Named in honour of Charles John Grace, affectionately known to all as “Chica”, this bar celebrates the life and legacy of a truly remarkable man. A beloved local identity, Chica was known as a gentle giant with a great sense of humour, a warm heart, and the qualities of a true gentleman.

Many afternoons were spent sharing a beer and a laugh with friends in the old Men’s Bar and later the Krait Bar, making the Club a special part of his life. Chica’s Bar pays tribute to his enduring connection to the Club, the RSL Sub-Branch, and the wider community.

A proud World War II Veteran and recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), Chica dedicated countless years to serving others. Alongside his wife Jean, who lived just behind the VVA building on Ocean View Road, he became a respected and familiar figure within the community. His generosity extended beyond service, as he patiently mentored local youth, offering guidance, encouragement, and compassion to generations of young people.
